Meet Laura and Adam, the amazing couple behind Yellow Matilda, a Nomadic Design Studio. They’ve spent the past few years living and working out of their yellow van, chasing adventure and following wherever it leads. Lucky for us, it led them to a wedding day in the Scottish highlands wrapped in a TBCo. blanket! Keep scrolling to read Laura & Adam's Colsie Love Story!
When and where did you get married?
Hi! We’re Adam and Laura. We got married on 1 April 2019 and spent our day adventuring around Corrie Fee, Glen Doll & the Cairngorms in Scotland.
How did you meet?
We met in the French Alps in Meribel during a ski season. Adam was working as a Chef and Laura was working for the same company. We became great friends and then Adam won Laura's heart with his chocolate brownies and yellow ski pants! We have been travelling in our van for the past few years and working on the road from our Nomadic Design Studio named Yellow Matilda.
Tell us a bit about your wedding day- was there a theme or a favourite moment?
Six weeks before the wedding we weren't even engaged! We had gone on a walk up to Corrie Fee and after Laura casually mentioned she would like to get married here, she turned to Adam and said 'Would you though?'. And that was the proposal. It was wonderfully unplanned and impulsive and felt so special. We then decided just to get on with it and crack on with planning a low key elopement with our parents as guests. The whole thing was gloriously stress-free and we pulled together a day that felt adventurous and intimate and completely our own. I guess our theme was us. Which in our opinion is the best wedding theme!
Not to be vain, but how was The Tartan Blanket Co. a part of your day?
Our fantastic photographers The Caryls recommended the Tartan Blanket co. to us as a practical and beautiful layer for Laura over her wedding dress. They told us about the recycled woollen blankets that are really windproof. We bought a few because we loved them so much. Laura ended up wearing the Black watch Tartan blanket as a shawl and Adam carried the Natural Buchanan blanket as an extra, rolled on the outside of our backpack. It ended up coming in handy as Laura's mum wore it on the way down after the strong winds at the top. We can all confirm how warm and windproof they are! Adam also wore a Military Style Leather Sporran from the Kilt Society to complement his casual kilt and woollen jumper wedding outfit.
