UK & Rest of World

How long does shipping take?

All of our products are shipped from Edinburgh, Scotland. Our warehouse is closed at weekends to give our hard-workers some time off, so any orders placed at weekends will be dispatched from the following Monday.

Standard UK Delivery: 2-5 working days.
Express UK Delivery (Mon-Fri): 1-2 working days (order before 12pm)

Please note that if you've selected our embroidery service, this will add 2-3 working days to your order delivery time.

We will keep you updated on its progress, so you'll always know what's happening. If you need your order quickly, do get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

Our warehouse is super speedy and order amendments are likely not possible after an order is placed. We'll always endeavour to make these changes where possible, so please reach out to our team at hello@tartanblanketco.com

How much is delivery?

Delivery charges vary by country and item. If you enter an address at checkout, you can then find our handy delivery calculator.

UK delivery is FREE for all orders over £49. For all other UK orders, delivery starts from £3.

Rest of World International Delivery varies, with duties and taxes applicable on arrival.

Please note, Gift cards do not count towards the free shipping minimum.

How are my items packaged?

We package each order as though it is a gift, because whether you are treating a loved one or yourself we want it to feel special. Everything is hand-wrapped with care and sent with love from Edinburgh.

We are also environmentally conscious and will wrap up multiple items together to save on paper and packaging. If you would like your blankets or scarves individually wrapped please purchase them in separate gift boxes here.

Our products are well protected and ready to be gifted with no receipt or invoices in the packaging, so you can have them sent straight to the recipient's door!

Would you like to ship to multiple addresses? Please put through a separate order for each address.

Want to add a complimentary gift note to your order? Please add your message at cart.

Who pays for import duties and taxes?

The cost of import duties and taxes is payable by the recipient for all orders shipped outside the UK. This is payable upon delivery.

How can I track my order?

As soon as we have shipped your order, we will send you an email to confirm and share your tracking number. Please be sure to check your junk mail folder in case it pops in there. You can also check your order status via out Live Chat facility - have your order number to hand, type this in and the status of your order, along with tracking information (if it has been shipped) will be displayed.

How much is delivery?

USA express shipping is FREE to Mainland US, Hawaii & Alaska only. Eligible on orders over $120, and we cover these duties too! ALL duties covered in Mainland US, Hawaii & Alaska only.
US overseas territories not eligible for free shipping and duties: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palai.

Canada express shipping is FREE for all orders over $99 USD, with duties and taxes applicable on arrival.

Gift cards do not count towards the free shipping minimum.

How long does shipping take?

EU Delivery is on average 3-10 working days, depending on country and distance.
Please note standard delivery to Denmark, Finland and Sweden is local locker collection. Express delivery is door-to-door.

Returns

What is your returns policy?

We are so sorry that your items are not suitable for you. We want you to be completely happy with your purchase so we accept returns, unused and in the original condition, up to 30 days after purchase.

If you have a problem with your purchase, please get in touch immediately. We're here for you every step of the way! See below for our returns process. If you are unsure which service you should use, we're always here to help.

How do I return an item?

Sorry your order wasn't quite right for you. Of course, you're more than welcome to return it to us for a refund.

Returns are super straightforward - please check out our Returns page for further information on how to return your item. If there's anything you're not sure about, we're here for you.

Visiting Edinburgh? Items purchased in store or online can also be returned to our store at 170b Great Junction St, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 5LJ.

Unfortunately products which have been embroidered are unable to be returned unless faulty.

We cannot currently offer exchanges. If you would like a different item please return it to us and place a new order.

Can I return a product if it has embroidery on it?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns for items that have been personalised with embroidery unless there is a fault with the product or the embroidery itself.

Can I exchange a gift?

Can I get a price adjustment for an item I’ve already purchased?

From time to time, TBCo may offer sale or discount promotions. We understand that missing a promotion can be frustrating, however we're unable to offer refunds as a result of a sale, discount or update to pricing. Where is your shop?

Our studio is situated at 170b Great Junction Street, Leith, EH6 5LJ where we hold a select representation of our range. Call ahead if there is a design you're looking for and we'll let you know if it's on display. We're open 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday. Please do pop by and say hello, we'd love to see you!

What are your opening times?

We're open Monday - Saturday 10am-6pm

Can I return/exchange orders?

Items purchased in store or online can be returned either using our online returns portal or in store. We offer 30 days from date of purchase for return/exchanges. Please see our Delivery & Returns page for more info.

Can I collect an online order?

We do not offer online collection from our shop currently but we are working to set this service up so watch this space!

Do you stock all products in the shop?

We have a selection of products in store but you can find our full range online.

What are your different scarf sizes?

How does embroidery work?

On the product page for the item you've chosen click on the 'Oh Yes' to add embroidery button. Add a name, date or initials. Depending on your chosen product, we offer up to 15 characters across two lines of text, 9 characters on one line of text, or 2-3 characters on one line of text. Please check the product listings to learn what's available for your chosen item.

Next look at the images showing the two fonts available and click on the one you want. All embroidery is done in a lovely camel thread as this compliments all our designs.

Personalising a product takes 4-5 days so bear this in mind, your item will be shipped via your chosen method - Standard or Express after these 4-5 days

Where are your blankets and scarves made?

We have spent a long time visiting mills around the world that we feel make some of the best wool, and we've built long-lasting relationships with both of our partner mills. You can read all about our wool here.

Our Recycled Wool is woven in India, the textile recycling capital of the world, where pre-loved garments are collected and woven into our super sustainable recycled wool blankets!

Our Lambswool and Cashmere blankets and scarves are woven in Inner Mongolia, where we are proud to partner with a family-run farm that still uses traditional farming methods. They cultivate the softest, best-quality wool and cashmere we've ever found.

Our Alpaca blankets and scarves are woven in Peru, the alpaca capital of the world. We use undyed and traceable Peruvian yarn, famous for its durability and warmth, is combined with 11% recycled nylon for a sumptuous bouclé texture.

What's the difference between a Blanket Scarf & a Small Blanket?

Great question! Other than the name there is absolutely no difference! They are exactly the same product however they can be worn as either a Blanket Scarf or a Small Blanket (pretty great for travel!) which is why you will find both listed on our website.

Why aren't they all made in Scotland?

Scottish wool tends to be a little coarse due to the harsh weather conditions, so is often used in tweeds, carpets and upholstery. Most British mills these days actually use wool from overseas such as New Zealand. After much research and travelling, we felt the best quality of lambswool and cashmere we could find came from Inner Mongolia, the best recycled wool from India and the best undyed alpaca from Peru. So we chose to make them at source, working directly with our trusted manufacturing partners. We've written a lot more about it in this blog post: Why We No Longer Manufacture in Scotland.

I can't find my family's Clan Tartan on your website - do you not carry all tartans?

Unfortunately, we cannot make all the clan tartan blankets that exist as there is a whole lot out there! Each tartan is unique and woven separately, which involves a lot of different yarn colours and loom set ups, so we are only able to sustainably produce a few carefully chosen tartan designs. However, we are always reviewing our range or bringing in seasonal patterns, so we love to hear what tartans our community is looking for. Please do drop us a line!


Wool

What are the differences in wool types?

You can read all about our wool here and we have made a handy chart that compares them with an in-depth explanation. To sum up our wool types:

Best all-rounder: Recycled Wool Blanket - Durable, soft, warm, and great value.
Best for next-to-skin softness: Lambswool Blanket - Super soft, lightweight cosy, and perfect for little ones too.
Best for adding gorgeous texture: Alpaca- adds instant interest to a room or outfit, plus is super soft and insulating without being bulky.
Best for the ultimate treat: Cashmere Blanket - Warmest, softest, snuggliest wool; it's like being wrapped in a luxuriously warm cloud.

What does recycled wool mean?

Recycled wool is wool which has had a previous life, maybe as a jumper or pair of socks. It's broken down and re-spun into new yarn with other mixed recycled fibres saved from landfill to give the blanket strength and increase its longevity (meaning you can love it for longer)! Recycled wool turns pre-loved into re-loved. You can read more about that on our blog: About Recycled Wool.

What is the best way to care for wool?

Each wool type needs different care. We have written a detailed guide on how to wash wool and keep it soft so you can look after every wool type, check it out here.

Which wool type is the softest?

Since we only weave with premium wool that is super fine, all of our wool types are super soft and not scratchy. But if we had to choose favourites, cashmere is the softest material ever and its texture is almost silky. Our lambswool is super soft, fluffy and light (yet insulating). Alpaca has a lovely cloud-like texture- it is soft, lofty and insulating while not being bulky. Recycled wool is also soft, and a bit more weighted.

How do I add a Video or Audio Gift Note to my order?

1. Add this video gift note to your cart.
2. After you complete checkout, you will receive an email with a link to upload your video or audio message.
3. Your message will be printed as a QR code on our special Stars Gift Note and added to your order.
4. Your recipient opens their gift, scans the QR code, and enjoys the video or audio message you uploaded.
