The Best Kept Secret to Picnicking Like a Pro: A Picnic Blanket Strap!

Summer is just around the corner, and Spring is at least trying to make an appearance - so you know what that means?! It’s time to picnic. As thousands of us flock to local parks, beaches and any other place with flat surface area, the question on everyone’s lips is: how on earth do you carry a picnic blanket?

Do you shove it in a tote bag? Do you crumple it up under your arm? Do you try to fold it into a tiny square for your backpack? Don’t even think about trying to put it back in when it’s covered in mud and grass stains or, god forbid, sand!

Don’t worry, we have just found your solution: a picnic blanket strap.

Three simple words that can make your sustainable picnic a walk in the park, because we all know that (apart from the ants) the worst part of a picnic is having too much to carry. Our picnic blanket straps mean that you can toss that blanket over your shoulder and get down to the serious stuff - like snacking and frisbee! Read on for our step by step guide to picnic success.

First, Pick your Sustainable Picnic Blanket

Now this one is kind of a given, you’ve got to have a picnic blanket to go on a picnic. Duh.

You may already have a tried and true blanket that has gotten you through thick and thin, but if you don’t, then we recommend you get your hands on one. For those impromptu picnics when the ground isn’t quite as dry as the air -  our sustainable picnic blankets are made with Recycled Wool and a handy water-resistant backing

Next, Pick your Matching Picnic Blanket Strap

Now this is the good part - picking your favourite picnic blanket strap design! You’ll first need to pick the material: we have our Leather Picnic Blanket Strap or our Recycled Picnic Blanket Strap.

After you’ve picked the right material for you and the best colour to match your picnic blanket, you can decide whether you would like our Picnic Carrier on it’s own or if your picnicking needs are better suited to our Picnic Carrier and Shoulder Strap combo (this is the best option for the ultimate hands free picnic).

How to Use Your Leather Picnic Blanket Strap

Okay, so your Picnic Carrier and Shoulder Strap have arrived at the door but now you are just staring at a picnic blanket and a bunch of strappy bits of leather - here’s how to put your picnic strap together.

  1. Place the Picnic Carrier on a flat surface with the straps unbuckled.
  2. Roll your blanket up tightly and place into the Picnic Carrier - if you want a neater finish you can roll from both ends to get rid of any loose hanging tassels.
  3. Buckle the picnic blanket strap up securely around the blanket like a belt.
  4. Next, grab your Shoulder Strap and thread one end under the loop at the side of the Carrier handle and fold the strap over itself, popping the brass fastening through the leather hole. Repeat on the other side.
  5. You’re ready to go!

High quality leather can be a bit stiff at first. Expect it may take a bit of extra effort to push the brass fastenings through the leather holes, but don’t worry it will only get easier and (and more beautiful!) with a bit of wear.

  1. Place the Picnic Carrier on a flat surface with the straps unbuckled.
  2. Roll your blanket up tightly and place into the Picnic Carrier - if you want a neater finish you can roll from both ends to get rid of any loose hanging tassels.
  3. Take one end of the strap and thread it through both brass buckles then loop the strap back over and thread through only one brass buckle - pull to tighten. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Take the Shoulder Strap and repeat the same method but threading the strap through the loops at the side of the carrier handle to fasten.
